The Stage Hand assists with all backstage duties related to Jay Peak's summer music series. Duties include, but are not limited to, set-up of venue day before each show, un-loading and loading band/production gear, tear down of venue day after each show, any other duties assigned by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Building stage and venue under supervision of product supervisor.
  • Unloading and loading band and production gear.
  • Tearing down stage and venue post-show under supervision of product supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related, or un-related to original position.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. Comfortable working outside in all forms of weather.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell and occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 100 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds or more. The specific vision requirements of this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts and exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasionally working in high or precarious places, extreme cold, extreme heat and near risk of electrical shock. The noise level in this work environment is usually very loud.

RESORT CONDITIONS
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
