Assistant Ski & Snowboard Instructor

SUMMARY
Jay Peak Resort is hiring Assistant Ski & Snowboard Instructors for the 2025/26 season! This is a great opportunity for energetic, passionate, and hardworking individuals who love skiing or snowboarding, enjoy working with kids, and want to be part of a fun and supportive team. We offer flexible scheduling that can work around your availability—as long as it aligns with our program needs. Assistant Instructors primarily support lessons for children ages 4–12 in our kids’ programs. You’ll help our certified instructors deliver safe, engaging, and memorable experiences on the snow. This is a fantastic way to develop your skills, be part of the mountain culture, and introduce others to the sport you love.
**No prior teaching experience is required - we'll train you!! You'll only be assigned to lessons and tasks you're comfortable with.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
- Assist in providing high-quality instruction to guests in a fun and professional manner
- Participate in training sessions to improve your skills
- Be a supportive, reliable member of the Ski & Ride School and broader Jay Peak team
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
No prior experience or training necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read & comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, & memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one & small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be able to regularly and effectively communicate through email and other electronic communication in addition to online scheduling programs.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must be able to communicate effectively to other individuals and small groups of people (especially children) in a professional, friendly manner. Must be comfortable initiating conversations with guests and other employees. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an essential part of this position. Must be able to interact cooperatively with all other departments.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
You must have your own ski/ride equipment including helmet (which we can help with) and complete on-snow and off snow training at the start of the season. Assistant Instructors must be 14 years of age or older, possess a passionate, positive attitude, support the mission of the resort and follow the company’s policies and procedures.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
RESORT CONDITIONS
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Workdays and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays
